Introduction and Bubba's costume buildin' philosophy

This is Bubba's guide to creating your own home made Star Wars costumes. My goal is to provide information to help you build Star Wars costumes that are easy and cheap. I want to see as many fans as possible with high quality costumes and I dedicate this website to costume builders like you.

The costume patterns you will see here were intended to be as simple as possible, yet complete enough to look great. As there is no adequate way to get a full scale clothing pattern from a website, I have posted pictures of the patterns with some of the measurements for scale. Copy the patterns the best that you can, but don't get too stressed about making them perfect. Even if your patterns don't look exactly like mine, they'll probably work.

The philosophy of these costumes is called KIS: Keep It Simple. This same approach has been used to design airplanes, software and lots of stuff in between. Many of the designs were modified to make them easier for me to display from a webpage and easier for you to re-create for yourself. In several places I have tried to use both Metric and SAE measurements.

I have also included the best pictures I could find of various props and costume details.

For the special materials you will need, I have assembled some of the finest suppliers I have done business with. However, many of the more common supplies can be found as Wal-Mart, hobby stores and hardware stores.

All of us here at the Barnyard hope you enjoy what we have here for you. And on top of that, we hope that this site inspires you build your own Star Wars costume!
